Alrighty, new post time!

“Come on, Ems! Time to wake up!” Remus yelled from the living room. Emily groggily rubbed her eyes and yawned wide. She threw the covers off of her and sat up in her bed. She swung her feet over the bed and stretched. Emily glanced outside at the white grounds. Snow had fallen heavily through the night, and Emily couldn’t help but smile.

Walking to the bathroom, Emily grabbed her toothbrush from the cabinet and squeezed her toothpaste onto the brush. After she finished brushing her teeth and washing her face, Emily made her way down to the living room.

Remus was sitting by the fire, reading the Prophet. He glanced up as she walked in. “Happy Christmas!” he exclaimed with a grin.

“Happy Christmas!” Emily replied.

“Breakfast or presents first?” Remus asked.

“Presents, duh!” Emily rolled her eyes and then chuckled.

“Figures,” Remus chuckled.

Emily glanced at the tree. They had put it up the night they got home from Hogwarts. She took in a deep breath and smelled the pine needles mixed in with the dusty ornaments. She smiled as she looked back at their homemade ornaments. She noticed that the pile of presents had gotten larger from the night before.

“Stockings first,” Emily announced. She walked over to their fireplace and grabbed both stockings from their hooks. She handed Remus his while she sat down on the floor in front of his chair with hers.

Emily watched as Remus pulled his candy out of his stocking. She had also put a new pair of socks with moons in his stocking.

“Do you like the socks?” Emily asked with a grin.

He chuckled. “Oh, yes. They bring back many wonderful memories.” Emily laughed.

She opened hers next. Remus had stuffed a key ring of a white wolf, some new quills, a box of Every Flavor Beans, and other various sweets into her stocking.

“Thanks, Rems. I love the key ring,” Emily smiled.

They spent the next half-hour opening gifts from each other. Remus received new robes, shoes, and a few pieces of muggle clothing. She bought him a new book called Spells for Dummies, which they laughed at, and a new coffee mug.

Emily opened presents that contained new robes, books, and doodads. She got a broom servicing kit and sterling silver jewelry cleaner for her ring. He also bought her gift cards for all her favorite muggle shops—Aeropostle, Hollister, American Eagle, and Old Navy.

“You spent way too much, Rems,” Emily said with a frown as she held her gift cards.

“Isn’t that my line?” he asked with a chuckle. “Stop worrying, Ems. Besides, when your mother passed, she left me a small fortune too. And what better way to spend it than on her daughter?”

Emily sighed. “I guess,” she said.

Emily glanced at the small pile of presents that were left under the tree. They all had her name on it with different handwritings scrawled on the pieces of parchment. She assumed they were from Harry, Ron, and Hermione because Fred, George, and her agreed that they would exchange presents in person. Emily scooted over next to the tree and pulled out a rectangular package. She read the note scribbled on the front:

Happy Christmas, Emily!
Love, Hermione

Opening the package, Emily’s eyes widened slightly. “It’s The Breakfast Club DVD! I love this movie!” Emily squealed. Remus laughed lightly at her response. Emily hugged it to her chest, mentally reminding herself to tackle Hermione when she saw her. She gently placed it by her feet and grabbed the top one. Its note read:

Happy Christmas!
-Ron

She opened the present and unfolded a piece of cloth. Inside was a flower made from grass and another note:

Emily, I didn’t know what to get you, and Bill taught me how to make them when I was younger. You like the grass, right? I hope you like it. Happy Christmas!
Ron

Emily picked up the grass flower and smiled. She loved it; it was so beautiful. It was a flower that would never age. It could easily represent a friendship or love that would never fade. Emily pushed her hair behind her ears and nudged the grass flower behind her right ear. She smiled at Remus, who smiled back, and grabbed the next present. Opening the note on the front, she smiled.

Happy Christmas, E!
I came across it over the summer and thought you might like it...
Harry

Emily undid the tape on the back of the gift and ripped the paper off. Emily slid her hand over the glassy cover of Michael Jackson’s new album, Dangerous and Aerosmith’s new album, Get a Grip. She smiled at the two CDs, imagining listening to them.

As Emily got up to start piling her presents together, she heard a peck on the window. She glanced behind her and noticed Hermes. Remus trudged over and unlatched the window, taking the letter from the owl in the process.

“It’s for you,” he said as he gave the owl a treat.

Emily took the letter and opened it.

Emily!
Mum is having a small get together for dinner tonight for Christmas. She said I could invite you! Professor Lupin is invited too. Please come! We can exchange gifts and maybe you could spend the night. Mum said it was okay as long as your Godfather is okay with it. Write back and let us know! I love you and happy Christmas!
Love, Ginny

Emily grinned and then passed the letter to Remus. Remus knitted his eyebrows together as he read the letter. He placed it in his lap and looked up at Emily.

“Do you want to go?” Remus asked.

“Yeah, if it’s all right with you, and we don’t have anything else planned.” Emily looked up at Remus.

“Nothing planned. I was going to stop by the Morgan’s. Maggie had the baby, and I thought I’d drop off our present for them. I can drop you off at the Weasley’s and then head over to the Morgan’s.”

Emily nodded slightly. “Give the baby a kiss and Mrs. Morgan a hug for me. Are you sure you don’t mind, Rems?”

“Not in the slightest. Write Ginny back and tell her you can come and spend the night.”
Remus smiled and handed Emily back her letter.

Emily went to the kitchen and wrote a reply. She sent Bluejeans out on his way. Sitting at the table, Remus made bacon and eggs with toast and anything else their hearts desired. They ate happily and then cleared the table. Remus started on dishes and Emily went upstairs to take her shower, making a mental note to spend extra time on shaving. She grabbed a towel from the linen closet and turned her water to sizzling hot. She piled on the conditioner and let it sink in while she shaved and washed her body. She rinsed the conditioner out of her hair and hugged her shoulders as the hot water splashed against her face. It soothed the tension in her shoulders and relaxed the muscles in her neck. Sighing, she turned the faucet off and grabbed the fluffy towel that was on its hook. Drying herself off, she stepped out of the tub and made her way to her bedroom.

On her windowsill was an owl. But it wasn’t just any owl; it was an eagle owl, an eagle owl that looked all too familiar. Cocking her head to the side, Emily opened her window and the owl lifted its leg, which had a letter tied to it. She undid the letter and the owl flew off. Emily watched after it for a minute before closing the window and sitting on her bed, still enveloped in her towel. She opened the letter, which read:

*dun, dun, dun!!! I thought I'd leave you on a cliffie! Tell me watchya think
