New post time!!

On Sunday, Emily packed up her trunk with a few pieces of clothing, a couple of books, and her seven shopping bags. Emily grabbed the scrapbook she had made at the beginning of the summer and sat Indian-style on the end of her bed. She flipped through the pages, smiling occasionally at the memories. She stopped at the second to last page. It was a picture of George and her dancing under their tree. Collin Creevey got on her nerves constantly, but for snapping a picture of this memory, she knew she owed him. Not being able to stand looking any longer, she flipped the page. She smiled at a laughing Cody and her as he pushed her on the tire swing in their hangout. On the opposite page was a picture of Ginny and her messing around, dancing in her dormitory. Hermione thought it was priceless and made sure she got the entire thing on film.

She closed her book of memories and threw it on top of her trunk. She kicked the lid closed and looked around at her second home. She thought about her trip to see Sirius this morning. She went to bring him as much food as she could, since she would be gone for the next two weeks. She frowned as she remembered the look on his face when he realized she wouldn’t see him for Christmas.

Hearing a knock on the door, Emily turned.

“Hey, you almost ready to go? I think Cody’s waiting for you,” said Ginny with a grin.

“Yeah, I’m coming now,” Emily said, forcing a smile into her features.

“Need any help?” Ginny asked, oblivious to Emily’s emotions. Emily shook her head and Ginny turned to leave.

Heaving her trunk down the stairs, Emily glanced at the crowded common room. Everyone was getting ready to go down to the carriages. Emily located and Cody and made her way to him.

“Hey,” she said quietly.

“Hey,” he replied. “Are you excited about going home?”

“Kinda, you?” she asked.

“Yeah, I miss my sister. And I hear she’s really excited to meet you,” he said with a grin.

“What? Don’t tell me I’m meeting your family today. I look like a mess!”

“You never look like a mess, and I may have mentioned that you would be riding home on the Hogwarts Express with me,”
he said with a smirk.

“Cody Cheek, if you think I’m meeting your parents today, you are delusional.” Emily peeked at his expression and realized a little too late that she had hurt his feelings. “Not that I don’t want to meet them, just that I don’t think I’ll make the best impression.”

“You’ll be fine. I promise. You ready to head down?”

“Not quite. I need to go get Bluejeans, but I’ll meet you in the Entrance Hall in about twenty, thirty minutes.”

Emily started directing her trunk toward the portrait hole when Cody caught her arm.

“I’ll take that down for you, so you don’t have to take it with you to the owlery,” he said.

“Oh, okay, if you’re sure. Thanks, Cody.” Emily smiled and headed for the door, hands empty except for the cage.

Looking up, she saw Bluejeans. He was perched on a high hook, hiding his face from her.

“Come on, Bluejeans! We’re going home for the holidays!” she yelled at him. He looked down at her, hooted, and turned to hide his face again.

“Don’t be like that, Bluejeans! I’m sorry I don’t come see you as often as I should... What if I told you that I have some of your favorite treats back at home?” The owl peeked at her. He hesitated for a second and then flew down to her arm. “I really am sorry.” Bluejeans nibbled her ear affectionately and Emily giggled.

“Well, well, do you want me to leave you two alone?” asked a voice from the doorway. Emily started and then caught her breath.
