Good Merlin. Cutter reread the thesis paper a few times, just to make sure he was reading correctly. His gaze switched between the paper and the kid, back and forth several times. He was obviously not even past his fourth year. Second or third, most likely. And yet... wow.
"Well you wouldn't be able to use a mundane plant for this, you do realise that, son?" Cutter held the paper out to the kid, offering it back. "You'd need a sentient plant. Tentacula or devil's snare, something of the like. If you want it to be able to change at will, it has to have a will, after all." Cutter paused, then cleared his throat and sat up a bit more. "Maybe it would be better to hold off on this experiment until next term, yeah? We're coming up on the end of this one and it wouldn't do to start experiments and trials and things of that nature and then not be able to finish them. We'd never allow a student to do such things unsupervised, as well..."
