"Professor I think I remember reading that the eat meat. Is that right Professor."
Professor Lawson nodding and handing Kay a piece of raw meat. "Very good, Kay. That's right. Thestrals are carnivorous."

Creepy.

But although the lesson may very well be a bit boring for he and the kids who could see nowt but trees, he was glad that he hadn't seen anyone die.

“I can't see them, Miss... but can I have a go at feeding them?” And he went back to staring at nothing. Squinting a bit as if it might make a difference... but of course it didn't. Someone needed to invent some Thestral Goggles like that wee Slytherin girl had suggested before.
"Of course, Oliver," she said, pulling out more food and handing it to him. "Here you are."

She watched the Professor opening her bag and retrieving something. It was too dark to see what it was, but soon the words 'smells' and 'feed them' made her believe it was indeed...something food-y. Hehe.

Feed them!? Oh oh oh!
"I want! Er, I mean, could I please, Miss?" Miranda whispered and had her hand in the air.
"Yes you may, Miranda." She handed the Hufflepuff a rather large piece of raw meat and patted her on the shoulder. She loved how the girls in her classes always remembered their 'Please' and 'Thank you's.

He looked over at the Slytherin boy who asked if he could feed them and Jack was SOOOOO on board with that. He raised his hand too. "Can I feed them too?! It would be SO COOL to see the meat just like...disappear in front of me!" he exclaimed, unable to contain his excitement.

What? This was his Care of Magical Creatures last class--he had to make it count!
"That's the spirit, Jack!" Iliana said, pulling more meat from her bag.

She watched as the professor made her way over to Sir Lawson to retrieve her bag, noticing that the nice groundskeeper had joined them.

Her eyes lite up when she asked who wanted to feed them. "I wanna feed them." She whispered, moving closer to Lady Lawson.
"Wonderful, Arya. Here you go."

But she couldn't do that now. The groundskeeper was there and would surely notice her. Eh. Rolling her eyes, Evelyn looked back towards the black winged creatures before letting her head hang slightly, closing her eyes and sighing.

"Can I feed them please, Professor?" she muttered before moving closer to her, the tiniest bit of excitement showing in her eyes.
"Of course, Evelyn," she said with a smile. "Here you go."

She liked animals, especially thestrals. Ah, and that brings her back to the good ol' days when she went looking in the forest for thestrals at the begining of the term. Yup, Mr. Masterson wasn't all that excited to kick a bunch of kids out of the forest. That was also where she'd met Phyre. And then her and Violet had tried to sneak into it again.... that hadn't worked out to well. Thankfully, her and violet weren't 'associating' anymore. Otherwise, Nicoletta'd been expelled by now. Nope, she decided to be a good little second year and go find some other friends. I wonder if Violet's still goth?
Iliana walked over to Nicoletta and handed her some meat. "Yes, of course."

Iliana moved closer to Neo, still holding a piece raw meat in her hand. Judging by the way he was looking at the Thestrals, she could tell that he could see them. "Would you care to feed them too?" she asked.

...

"Okay guys, hold the meat in your hand like this." She demonstrated, holding it flat in the palm of her hand. "And let them come to you. They are very gentle and should let you pet them with no problem. Just be quiet. Loud noises are likely to spook them."
