Casting a quick charm to clear the dirt off his hands, Cutter stood and moved to the table in front of the class. The students were as ready as they were going to get, he assumed. Clearing his throat, he again flicked his wand, and the blank cards that had been on the table behind a particularly large and violent-looking tentacula flew into the air, five settling on each workstation.

"Afternoon kids. My name is Jacob Cutter, and I'll be your Herbology Professor for the foreseeable future. This is my first time teaching a class like this, so if you'd go easy on me that would be appreciated." He gestured towards the cards that had distributed themselves. "If you'd please write your name, house and year on those, and make sure to have them in view at all times? It'll help me learn who is who. If you're a prefect, or one of the Head persons, please also indicate that on your card. Are there any questions before we get to the actual classwork?"
