Ah, yes... and then it started. The boy started to shrink more and more rapidly and turned neon green! Tinier and tinier, as though he'd brewed not just any old shrinking solution but Alice's Drink Me potion... his clothes puddled about as he shrank further... and further... stopping only when he reached the size of an average toddler. "Oh, dear, was it difficult to get the fine details of the potion done, all swollen? What a pity. I suppose now you'll have to brew a Growing Solution. Books are in the back... the heavy tome, I do hope you can manage it." Smirk smirk smirkety-smirk.
It burned. Oh it burned. But not like when you drink too-hot cocoa. No, this was a tingle much like heartburn, but nearly immediate, searing through his chest as he swallowed.
He tried to imagine what could be less palatable than this, given Kazi's comment.
He could feel it working. He wriggled his fingers. He rolled his tongue. The swelling was going down! Excited, Tiberius opened his eyes and was shocked, no, appalled, to find that he was looking at the underside of his workstation. He was extra tiny.
Swinging around to look at Kazimeriz as the man taunted him, a look of hurt crossed his face. "You... you told me to drink it." What came out of his mouth was a high pitched squeak, the shrinking obviously having tightened up his vocal cords. Now he was tiny AND sounded like a chipmunk.
Realizing that it was no good appealing to the man, Tiberius turned around and walked to the back of the lab. It certainly seemed a longer trek than before, his tiny legs striding not nearly as far. As he stared at the book, at once too high to reach, and too big for his small hands, Tiberius was once again in a situation where brewing would be difficult. Maybe his next mess-up would turn him purple or something.
Sighing, Tibi stared up at the book, trying to decide what to do.
