"It's just I guess I'm a little mortified. I was being stupid and irrational. And then there's Carter who's one of the nicest blokes..." Rafe couldn't think straight. He began fluffing up his pillows, when a
box fell out of one of them, he quickly scooped it up and hid it back into the pillow and then sat down on his large sleeping bag.
"You must think I'm a fool for doing what I did on the stage." He felt so embarrassed he could barely make eye-contact.
Marilyn ignored his initial attitude, deciding to sit down next to him anyway. He apologized upon seeing that it was, indeed, her…but it mattered not. She knew his pride had somehow been hurt.
"You're mortified?" She gave him a wide-eyed look before laughing lightly. Her laugh was not meant to goad him.
"i thought I'd be the one that was the most embarrassed. I hate that sort of public attention..." Marilyn bit her lip, looking down towards her lap.
"I thought you did well, to be honest."
Rafe was messing with his pillows and something had fell out, but he snatched it back up before she could give it a proper look. The inside of one's pillow was an odd place to keep something but she decided not to press him for now.
"And i could never think of you as a fool. A little ecsentric maybe, but never a fool." Her hand had somehow found his and she gave it a firm squeeze, her smile evident.
"Loving someone makes one blind to their flaws, i suppose..."
