38. Patronus

Andromeda read the copy of Advanced Defensive Magick that she had managed to smuggle into the house. She was reading in the middle of the night, her eyes straining against the flickering candlelight. She read the same passage four times, making absolutely sure that she knew what she was doing.

Putting the book down she concentrated, summoning all the strength she could find. Quietly and confidently, she said “Expecto Patronum!”. Silver vapour shot out of the end of her wand.

Encouraged, she tried again. This time it was stronger, a shield.

“One more try.”

There it was. Her badger patronus.
