Maybe I'm doing awesome for a while, becoming well known--maybe even getting a Chocolate Frog Card in my honor--when I crash while trying to get the snitch and break my arm so severely I can't play anymore?"
To be honest, considering that the Scythe meant DEATH, he REALLY hoped that his version of his future would be how things played out. "Oh, you're fine... Silly headboy." She said and giggled. "Don't put too much stock in these, I taught them cause I thought they'd be interesting, but there is a reason they aren't used much... accuracy. They lack it." Quote:

Trying to make sense of it all, Becca said aloud, "So, I will be happy in the end, but will struggle to make the right decision and put an end to something. Maybe if I'm lonely, the end to a bad relationship with a friend?" Becca doubted herself and then raised her hand, "Eh, Professor Lupa, can I ask what you make of my runes? I-I'm not quite sure if I really know what they mean." "Looks like you will be famous, but it'll be rocky, and men will interfere. In the end everything with be bright." She said with a smile. Quote:

Grabbing all 13 of the runes in her right hand she tossed them onto the white cloth as she asked Will I be friends with Kay again this year?. Looking down at the cloth there are only four runes that are face up. Marie gulped as she looked at them. They were The Skythe, Crossroads, Waves and Flight. She looked over the girl's shoulder. "Good Good." Quote:

It didn't surprise her when it decided to be one related to Dylan. What lies for us, in the future?
She grabbed all thirteen runes, felt their strange, rather cold warmth under her fingers, then let go of them, the way she would let go of a die. They rolled away from her, then came to a still. Most of them were, to her surprise, face down. Most -- but not all. Gold blinked, then glanced at the Rings, the rune that was farthest off from her. She felt like a moment of silence, like something she could not explain, and then she picked up parchment, and began to scribble what she thought, down. She frowned a little, placed her quill on her desk, and raised her hand. She had to show this to Professor Lupa, right?
"Professor?" She came and looked over the girl's shoulder. "Good job." She said. Quote:

Evelyn knew exactly what she wanted to know. Her dream at the lake had been bothering her all week, the beautiful dream that had turned into a horrible one when the giant squid had pulled her beneath the surface of the lake, ignoring her struggles.
She balanced the stones one by one in her right hand... "What does my dream mean? she whispered ever so quietly.
...and threw them on the cloth.
Five of the stones were facing upwards. She froze when she saw the rune furthest away on the cloth. THE SCYTHE!! So I really am going to be murdered by the gentle giant squid!!
Evelyn wrote down the order of the runes, so she could try and figure them all out:
Evelyn looked at the rest of them, and felt a little relieved, even smiling. Two of the runes, Sun and Star, related to the future, so that meant she had one! She wasn't going to die anytime soon! So what could the scythe mean then? The scythe also meant something coming to an end. That didn't have to be bad. Through her constantly changing life, she knew that things coming to an end wasn't always a terrible thing. Wow. That sounds pretty full on. But Evelyn shook her head, as if shaking away the thoughts. Like she had thought before, divination is wishy-washy. The stones could have had any number of meanings. Not everything in life has to be so dramatic as what her meaning had described.
She raised her hand, "Professor Lupa, can we ask another question?" "Of course," she told her, "but I'm wrapping up this class... take them back to your dorm and have fun with them." Quote:

Nicoletta cast the dice the Professor had handed her. What should I do after class? What should I do after class? What should I do after class? "Let's see, the man, the star, the crossroads and..... th-the scythe?!" Nicoletta asked herself in shock. Its just a couple of rocks, just a couple of rocks. she thought. "Okay, so it looks like the man means somethings going to happen to someone more in charge of my family," Matt?! "And I guess the scythe means that person's going to die. So I'll have to make some choices for my family and... and the star means I'll be getting the most attention. So I guess the answer to my question is... I should go send a letter to mum after class to see if Matt's alright."
To Nicoletta, it seemed pretty 'out there' and they were just stones after all...... Weren't they? "Scythe can simply mean an end... and sometimes end is good." She said patting her shoulder. Quote:

Romance seemed to be a good sign for her, signing friendship. Looking up the meaning for The Eye, her most important rune, she concluded that both runes together meant a good sign, she sighed and smiled. "Is this right Professor?" She asked, looking down at the other three runes. "It's not a right or a wrong... but you're doing great." She said. Quote:

The sequence of the stones that were face-up from the closest to him to the furthest was the star, the romance, the man and the flight. So that meant the flight was the first one right? Okay. Checking from the notes he had taken, he started writing his interpretation.
He reread what he had written. Wait, this meant success! OHMIGOSH! He had a future in football, his passion! Though he wasn't so quick to get all of his hopes up. He knew he had failed and he raised his hand. Professor could always correct him, right? And he was sure Professor Lupa would like to correct him if he was wrong, which was probably the case. She looked over the boy's shoulder and read his notes. These kids were adorable. "Good job." Quote:

Finally getting it she rolls the stones. Getting from farthest to closest, the star, the sun, woman, romance, the rings, crossroads. "Hmm," she says, "the most important thing is the star which means guidance, center, fulfillment, shininess, loneliness, hope, the future, money, personal glory, dreams and ideals for me." Since romance was closest to her it might mean it was the least important. So it might mean she wouldn't find love this year. Maybe it meant she would have a crush or someone would have a crush on her....intereting. She nodded to the girl. Quote:

This was her sort of thing since technically it was more of a divination aid than Ancient Runes, which Professor Lupa had mentioned. It wasn’t easy to hold all 13 runes. Her hands were actually pretty small after all, but she did manage it, balancing them in her wand hand and thinking of a question. It had to be something harmless, nothing that would make her, as Tibi put it, act weird. She didn’t want to ask about the coupons, or anything about whether Raiden would talk to her again. She licked her lips and decided to ask about Copernicus. Just how he was doing…
Celandine cast the runes with a practiced sort of ease, as if she regularly threw 13 dice on a surface in front of her. Furthest away was the star, then the romance and rings runes which were clustered together, then the man rune and finally, closest to her was the sun and then the flight rune.
She wrote them down on her parchment and listed the meanings, then started putting them together. Copernicus is following his dreams but he misses his shiny. Cela wrote, eyeing the meanings for ‘Star’. She was the shiny of course, it was one of his nicknames for her. She made faces at the heartbreak part but continued the interpretation, pausing slightly to take in the fact that two of the runes were right together. Joined meaning? Her heart beat a little fast but Celandine acted nonchalant. He desires marriage. Okay she knew that for a fact, but she still wasn’t entirely sure it would ever happen. Definitely not while she was at school.
She eyed the meaning for ‘Man’. Cope was definitely all the positive stuff in there, and… developing his inner strength so that he might one day be a strong head of his own family. She chewed on her lip and smiled slightly. His future is bright and full of happiness. Hopefully with her.As for ‘Flight’? well, Cela had a letter in her pocket so there was the messages meaning… He’ll find the freedom to be in control of his own destiny. She finished up and eyed her interpretation.
Gosh. Did she actually want the Professor to read it? Cela bit her lip and stayed quiet, thinking about it. Alessia peeked at the girl's interpretation. She smiled and winked at her, then looked away. Quote:

Probably not, who cares? It was rather fun. "But that doesn't sound quite logical." She said. "You might recast, but go ahead and take them to your dorm. As I said. Fun? Yes. Accurate? Not so much..." She smiled. Quote:

Satisfied that she'd interpreted the runes in the best way she could, considering she was no pioneer in divination, she leaned back in her seat pondering on the validity of her analysis. Alessia smiled at the girl. "Good job." Quote:

The thirteen year old boy was quite aware that this might took the professor's attention so he had to think of a good excuse.
Telling the truth? No, he would look pathetic if he did that. But what else? Or...or maybe she'd not ask why he was not working if he did a reading for someone else. He'd be tecnically working on the topic. So he rose from where he stood and spoke to the professor ''Ehm...professor. Can i do a reading for someone else?'' "Of course... in your dorm though... take the runes back with you." She told him. Quote:

She wondered if she really wanted to know the answer to the question that was bearing on her mind. She supposed she could ask of the stones the other question bearing on her mind, namely the upcoming O.W.L.s, but then - she reasoned - that was something she could control. This, on the other hand, was something she needed to know.
She cast the stones with her right hand and held her breath while her mind whispered, "Who is he to me?"
The runes clattered onto the white cloth. Most of them were turned face-down. Scrambling for the parchment with her notes, Aschere turned to look for the lead rune. Lying almost on the edge of her desk, was number 13. "Romance" Aschere blushed. That was odd, indeed. She noted the other four in order as she moved back to where she had been sitting. Picking up the runes and the cloth, she set them aside on one corner of the desk and unrolled her notes again.
Her brow creased over and her hand flew to her mouth. This was beginning to sound like a very badly written novel.
She decided to go with the order that she had noted them down in, farthest to closest, and began again, this time, writing down her analysis.
"My question was regarding a recurring dream, in which I see a man or boy. I have never seen this person before, and do not know who he is in real life, but I wish to know.
Asking of my runes the following question, "Who is he to me?" yielded:
13)Romance
8)Scythe
1)Sun
3)Rings
4)Crossroads
I interpret this to mean that there is indeed some connection, maybe even love, perhaps in the future, and as the leading stone is "Romance", this is the theme of that connection. Whatever connection there is between us might involve a death, or the end of something. Will it be the death of someone dear, or the end of a hope? Whatever it is, I think that new hope will come like the sun, which will strengthen this bond, however there will be a difficult decision to make."
She hoped that was a reasonable explanation. While it didn't give her much of a clue, it looked like she would have to wait for time to tell her the answer - she was never very good at interpreting overly abstract ideas.. She looked over the notes. "You are all doing so well." Quote:

That Ravenclaw girl probably. 'Probably likes her better too. And why wouldn't he? She's a Ravenclaw and he's like...part Ravenclaw...' Scowling at her desk, she starred at the Scythe rune that seemed to be mocking her at the moment. Snatching it off the desk, she held it up close to her eyes, glaring at it.
Though her gaze traveled down to the other runes. Scythe...crossroads... Wait. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad. If she were to read them one at a time as events in her life. Scythe would have been right now, which was not a good time for her. She was practically on the verge of just giving up. But maybe later on in her life, the crossroads, could mean a few decisions she'd have to choose. A few difficult decisions. Since it was closest to the Scythe, these decisions would either help or make worse the situation now. And the Eye, meant understanding and clear sight. Sooo, she would finally understand and have a clear head? Maybe she wouldn't be all confused and such like she was now and could actually focus on what she wanted in life. And the Star! The star meant...fulfillment and dreams! But since the Scythe was the farthest and most important at the moment, maybe it was describing her life right now? 'This reading ...is amazing.'
Unless she totally just read her runes wrong, or the wrong way, she decided that maaayyybee there was a slight chance that she would be able to become a wand maker. Completely forgetting about Josh and the Ravenclaw girl at the moment, she stared at the runes, not completely sure of her thoughts, but pretty happy with them anyways. Well this changed some things, that was for sure. "That's good..." She said pointing at the runes. Quote:

Or maybe that was just his perspective on things.
In any case, Tibi settled on asking how his term would be. Closing his eyes, focusing on his question and then shaking the runes, Tibi cast them all on the desk in front of him.
And they all landed face down. Tibi stared at them dumbly. Was no answer a bad answer? Was his term going to be so inexplicably crazy that it was better not to know about it? A frown planted itself firmly on his face. Logically, he knew no answer was just that... no answer. But emotionally... he worried. And he thought to ask the question again and see what happened. But he knew better. Face down meant it wasn't meant to be answered. No hints for Tibi. He would just have to take the term as it came.
Sighing, he regathered his runes and thought of the other question that was burning for him. What's in store for my relationship with Mum? Tibi concentrated hard. He thought it was changing, and it worried him. And so, he turned to the runes for perspective.
Tossing them on the desk, he only opened his eyes as the clattering stopped. He felt his heart leap to his throat as he looked down at the runes. The Scythe was farthest from him. He tried to push the immediate assumption away as he looked at the other runes.
Harvest was next, followed by the sun. Finally, romance, the crossroads, and the moon all landed side-by-side closest to him.
Taking a deep breath, Tibi turned to his notes on the rune meanings and began to write down the individual rune meanings and then his interpretation. Tiberius sighed. He needed to write home. "Master Pryce, very good." She told the little one. Quote:

With a dedicated, gentle toss, she let the runes go and do their work. Watching them play out, she glanced to the farthest from her. The Moon. Change. Well, of course there would be change... The Rings! Commitment. Hopefully, that meant that Violet and Conan would stay together. By the following Romance, she assumed it did. The Crossroads... Yes. Argument, struggle, decisions... And finally, the Scythe. Yes! An end! Well, all of that made sense, in relation to the situation. Good. She liked this. She looked over the girl's notes. "Very good." She told them.
"Alright students. I'm sending you back to your dorms with these runes." She said and then corrected herself. "Enjoy yourselves but don't worry about the outcome. For homework and 10 points, you will create your own set of runes. Use your imagination to create them, and give me the rune meanings. You are dismissed." She said and waited for them to file out. ooc: I will post detail homework on the board soon.
