| Granddaddy Ravenclaw | | Jermione Granger Tiberius looked down at the bag of runes after he laid down his casting cloth and wondered what question he could possibly ask. Despite having done rather well last term, and having enjoyed doing the readings, they always seemed to indicate doom and gloom.
Or maybe that was just his perspective on things.
In any case, Tibi settled on asking how his term would be. Closing his eyes, focusing on his question and then shaking the runes, Tibi cast them all on the desk in front of him.
And they all landed face down. Tibi stared at them dumbly. Was no answer a bad answer? Was his term going to be so inexplicably crazy that it was better not to know about it? A frown planted itself firmly on his face. Logically, he knew no answer was just that... no answer. But emotionally... he worried. And he thought to ask the question again and see what happened. But he knew better. Face down meant it wasn't meant to be answered. No hints for Tibi. He would just have to take the term as it came.
Sighing, he regathered his runes and thought of the other question that was burning for him. What's in store for my relationship with Mum? Tibi concentrated hard. He thought it was changing, and it worried him. And so, he turned to the runes for perspective.
Tossing them on the desk, he only opened his eyes as the clattering stopped. He felt his heart leap to his throat as he looked down at the runes. The Scythe was farthest from him. He tried to push the immediate assumption away as he looked at the other runes.
Harvest was next, followed by the sun. Finally, romance, the crossroads, and the moon all landed side-by-side closest to him.
Taking a deep breath, Tibi turned to his notes on the rune meanings and began to write down the individual rune meanings and then his interpretation. Quote:
The scythe – death or an end to something
The harvest – Plans coming to fruition, timing, growth, beginnings, bounty, completion, good fortune and abbundance.
The sun – Strength, success, great happiness, bright future, center and new direction. Romance – Desire, passion, love, relationship and heartbreak
The crossroads – Struggle, change, choices, decisions and arguments
The moon – Changing, variable, femininity, habitual, guidance and memory.
Change is a meaning that comes up a lot. Since the scythe is the lead rune, I would say that our relationship as it currently exists is coming to an end. But so closely followed by the harvest and the sun, I would also say that there will follow a new beginning in a new direction. Taking the rest of the runes with that in mind, I would say that our relationship is in transition and that transition will be difficult based on the presence of the crossroads and the heartbreak meaning of romance, but that there is a bright future and happiness (sun) for us. The moon, in addition to emphasizing change again may also indicate that memories will be important.
Tiberius sighed. He needed to write home.
