Sprinting down the steps two at a time, Arienna Malone's bright smile seemed contageous enough to light up the room, if she tried. Uncommonly for her, her white cane wasn't touching the ground as she carried it in her right hand, and she wasn't walking her usual measured steps. When she reached the bottom of the staircase, her bag slung over one shoulder, she took four steps forward before letting her cane down in front of her.

As confident as could be, she crossed the common room and headed down the staircase, once again picking up the cane so it wouldn't catch on the stairs.
