Resigning herself for the moment, she walked up to the counter and climbed up into a stool. Being quite short at about 4'3'', her feet didn't reach the floor and she swung them lightly as her small ovaled face tilted up towards the menu.
She tried to make her voice sound decisive and mature as she raised her hand slightly, ready to order. "Hi, may I please have a butterbeer with a turkey sandwich. If it's not too much trouble, please without mustard or pickles."
She dug into her mokeskin belt and took out the right amount of coins placing them on the counter in front of her. "And a cookie, chocolate please." Juliette Shepherd beamed at the girl. "Of course a mustard-less and pickles-less sandwich won't be any trouble at all," she said kindly, scribbling the girl's order and the prices of each item on a scrap of parchment. She was good at cooking, but addition had never been her strong suit.
"Do you want your sandwich cold or grilled?" Juliette asked as she circled the sum on her parchment and began to gather the girl's food. First came the plate, on which she meticulously arranged two chocolate chip cookies. Then she fetched a glass of butterbeer for the girl and paused to wait for her response in regards to the sandwich. |
