Lexi heard him proclamation to the barman and stepped up, saying, "If you would rather we took our money elsewhere, that could be easily arranged." How rude the man was.

He looked down at the boy and was tempted to say more but quite frankly he couldn't be bothered. He already had the kid's money, he didn't need to get involved. Thank Merlin, they didn't seem to have one of those coupons. He was here to make money not give away free stuff.

Oh now wasn't she the feisty one! Samuel's lip curled back into a sneer as he rested his hands on the counter and lent forward. "But I already have your money sweetheart and I ain't giving it back."

He withdrew his wand from underneath the counter and pointed it at the nearest table and chairs. In a flash there was a nice tablecloth, a vase with a slightly wilted rose in the centre and the chairs moved outwards a touch.

Looking back at the couple in front of him, Samuel gave his head a sharp nod towards the table. "Is that better?" he asked directing his question towards the girl.

Lorcan was completely dumbstruck, firstly by the way the man was talking to Lexi and secondly by the change in Lexi herself. She had gone from dour to fiery in one swift motion. As for the barman, judging by the lack of other adults, perhaps this was normal. It would certainly explain a lot.

He guided Lexi away from the bar to the ridiculous table that the man had set up for them. He pulled out the chair for her and then sat opposite her, feeling like he was sitting in a goldfish bowl. Surely everyone would be looking at them? Blushing furiously, he looked at her with undisguised concern. He took her hand across the table. "What exactly is wrong with you? Don't try and fob me off, I know you."
