Alex nodded as Chris spoke, though she remained silent. She felt him come sit next to her on the couch and she leaned her head on his arm, almost not thinking about it. "Okay, I will leave him behind." There, she had said it out loud, and though on the inside her heart tore into a million pieces, she knew it was for the best. "They are making me happy." She replied with a happy smile. Chris was making her more happy than she ever had been. She looked up at him and smiled more. "I won't..I shall think of happier things." Like you..
Chris laughed as she defended herself. "Yes- but within the first day of meeting you- you managed to get his by juggling balls and get your ribs broken. Maybe you just have bad luck," he said thoughtfully. He roared with laughter as she mentioned being delicate. "Well, you chose the wrong person to hang out with then," he said, shaking his head.

As she leaned her head on his shoulder, Chris wondered again what type of relationship this was going to be. He liked her- more and more with each passing day. But could it, would it, go beyond friendship. He only had a year, and he doubted Alex would want to take a chance of having her heart broken again. "Well, that's good... that is the best thing for a broken heart is to just let them go... don't completely forget, because you learned from the experience," he tutored, wondering how much he sounded like a parent at that point. "Okay, I'm going to be quiet now so you can concentrate," he said, and settled down into the couch, gently draping his arm over her shoulders.
