And, maybe I'll come with you so that I can hear her diagnosis for myself- and laugh when she tells you that somersaulting off a rock is not the best way to heal," he said with a grin.
Chris listened in silence- his face showing no hint of what he was thinking nor any sign of emotion. His mind was whirling around as he listened to the story of the two men and her. "What if Damon comes back?" he asked her quietly, raising an eyebrow. If she had a record of leaving guys when this one returned- he would be quite content to just remain friends- no matter what else he was thinking. However, as he watched her curl up on the couch he smiled slightly. "But I'm guessing that you weren't thinking of either of them?" he asked her quietly. "Just think of them- I hate to see you tearing yourself up like this," he said, raising a hand as if he were swatting away all of her bad thoughts.
Alex smiled a bit as Chris spoke, "Yes, take my advice." She said giggling softly as he spoke again. However she looked up at him as he said he would go with her. "Really? You want to come with me? I can see it now.. Well Healer, I was healing but then I tried to beat this boy in a juggling contest and it all went downhill from there." She laughed a bit.
Alex was silent for a minute as Chris asked her the one question that she herself wondered about. "I don't think he will come back to be honest, and if he does.. Well than.. nothing is going to happen between him and I. He has already broken my heart way to often." She said finally. "No, I wasn't thinking of them, actually. I was thinking of someone who could very well be mending my heart." She responded as she watched him raise his hand as if to bat the bad thought away. "Thinking of them is what is tearing me up." She said finally, as she looked away. She wasn't going to cry.. She wasn't going to do it.
