Most peeps would've been embarassed about falling but not Satine she took it with stride and just laughed at herself. That was Satine not very athletic.
She paused as Professor Lawson whistled...and no not a short whistle, but an ear splitting makes you want to poke you eardrums out whistle. She listened to his annoucment about targets and the time left and glanced down at the ball at Tobias' feet. Yes it would prolly be better for her just stick to dribbling for today.
Satine stopped the ball with the inside of her right foot and then glanced at Iris and Tobias as she tried to dribble the ball. The first two or three dribbles were pretty sloppy but soon she got the hand of it. "Like this?" she said to no one in general while focusing on the ball and the dribbling. She was pretty proud of herself. "Wow, maybe I should be a football/soccer star someday." she said with a roll of her eyes as she slightly pushed the ball towards the middle of the circle. Tobias, glad that Satine was fine, felt a little guilty. She was far more skilled than him; he deserved to fall. He scuffed the grass gently with the toe of his worn-out sneaker, wondering if it was real grass or magicked. Tobias had a problem with plants grown purely by magic. Potions and little charms here and there were fine, but spells that caused (or transfigured) a full-grown tree to pop out of desk were just...fake.
Tobias sighed. He really needed to get outside and see if there was any gardening the Herbology professor would allow him to do. SPOILER!!: darkgreen Quote:

She turned to listen to Lawson. Iris wanted to go and hit the targets (and pretend that they were scousers. hehe.), but she decided it would be better for her to stay here with these. Iris focused on Satine dribbling the ball, smiling encouragingly at her. "Yup, just like that. Go you!"
Iris laughed. "You never know, you could be. Just not in heels." She grinned and stole the ball from the circle. muaha. MY GO! yay! She dribbled the ball back and forth a few times, slightly quicker than she did when she was showing Tobias, until she tripped.
. "Ahh!" She put her arms out as she gained her balance - You know, because it really helps when you do that. She stood up and looked at Satine with grin, oops. Iris looked down to see that it wasn't the ball that she'd tripped up on, it was her shoe lace.
She rolled the ball to Tobias, so that he could give it another go and then sat on the floor and re-tied the lace. In a quadruple knot. Just to be safe.
Maybe sitting on the floor after giving Tobias the ball wasn't such a good safe idea though. Now Tobias really felt bad, because he was the least knowledgeable about Football and here we was looking like an idiot but not falling or tripping. He considered making himself fall next time he got the ball, but decided against it.
He held the ball until Iris stood up again. There really was no way to tell where his kick would go. He tried dribbling again, still very slowly. His sneakers made a nice, rhythmic sound as he pushed the ball around; it was easy enough to tell when he messed up because the sound was off. SPOILER!!: Lawson Quote:

She sat down and made note of the homework in the homework diary she'd bought, then looked up at the others, "We could always come and ask Lawson for a ball on Saturday and have a kick about in the grounds though, if you's wanted to. I would."
She grinned and then gathered her stuff together, then walked up to Lawson before leaving, "That was a great lesson, Professor - I really had fun." Time had flown so fast! Tobias dared hope that he and the girls were getting better at all this dribbing-passing business, if only just a teeny tiny amount.
"I think I'm going to head back to the common room," Tobias said, eyes on the homework. Eeek. That would take lots of research. "Or maybe the library...I think I need a book for that." The outside was calling, but homework was pulling him away. He sighed again. Being so long without real - Tobias had decided the grass under his feet was indeed what he called "fake" - plants had a bad effect on him. What was that Iris had said? Practice outside? "I think we should get together sometime and pass the ball around," he added. Hopefully, no one would fall.
He quickly got his writing materials and recorded the homework, looking sadly at his quill. The top two inches had completely broken off. Ooops. That's what he got for shoving it so carelessly into his bag. At least you didn't need the feathery part to right. Even better was that his ink hadn't spilled.
"Bye, Iris. Satine. Candy." Tobias waited for Iris to say goodbye to the professor and leave before approaching him.
"Professor Lawson, I wanted to say thanks for this lesson," Tobias said, smiling slightly at the memory of the past half hour. "And...I was wondering if you knew of any places I could order a Football on the cheap side. I'd like to see if I can get any better, without having to ask you to borrow a Football all the time." |
