An Unlit Lamp and Sleep


This camp -- was awesome. Gold gave Sachie a thumbs-up, as they snuck into their tents.

"That was quite a fiery campfire song," Sachie said, as she pushed her sleeping-bag into a corner she felt was more comfortable. "This is exciting, isn't it, Gold? I don't think I'm going to get much sleep, tonight. Or tomorrow night."

"I bet we're going to be too exhausted tomorrow night, though," Gold said. They had a long day ahead of them and, much as she could not wait for it, she knew without any sort of doubt that it would be a very hectic one.

- and she couldn't wear new shoes, when they went on the hike her dad had mentioned. Meh.

"Read me a bedtime story?" Sachie asked, with a very twelve-year-oldish grin. "A scary, camp-ghosts one, maybe? I bet you have one that sort in your collection."

"I do, but I left it back home," Gold grinned. "Go to sleep, alright? G'night, Sachie."

"G'night."

Gold smiled to herself, reached out to blow out the lamp. The light flared into sudden dimness like a super-effective Nox, and sleep rolled in.
