He turned to the man who said it was wrapped up and listened.
Warren frowned and glared at Ben. He had to hand it to the kid though unlike everyone else in the office he was the only one who would stand toe to toe with him. Maybe he'd make for a good assistant....maybe. "As much as I miss my father Amsten." Not at all.

Maybe that was something she needed to find out (without it being herself late next time, preferably - not a great way to begin the day).
Her eyes immediately fell to the people gathered, mostly full of unfamiliar faces. New recruits, perhaps? She'd have to find that out later, when she wasn't suddenly feeling very guilty for being late as she threw an apologetic smile to her boss, trying her best not to disturb what was going on by speaking. Next time, she thought to herself, be on time.
Warren looked up as someone else walked into his office and he looked away taking count. Well it seemed his employee count grew. Good.

"Aveira Celeste Lovecraft, first day," she murmured. "I saw the note and assumed, by the otherwise emptiness of the offices, that I should attend also." Aveira paused. He didn't seem to want her here. But oh, she'd be happy to leave. "If it is not so, I'll take my leave, sir."
Warren turned toward the girl who had walked in and he leaned back in his chair, "Ms Lovecraft...if you are MLES or Wizengamot you shall stay. Do we...disturb you?" He raised an eyebrow at the girl. Standing up he sat on the corner of his desk, "With the acception of Mr. Amsten over there who couldn't be intimidated by a runaway train while he's standing on the bloody track...every one in this room is intimidated by me and I doubt it's because of this scar," he said as he ran his finger down his cheekbone. "I don't like weakness. A weak agent makes for an easy target. I've seen more in my life than all of you put together and my ruling IS final because it might just save your life one day. If you don't feel up to that...do take your leave...if you don't like a challenge and want a desk job that kills your brain cells slowly be my guest. But in here...we listen...we work together...and we do as we're told."
Standing up he moved toward the front of his desk and leaned against it, "This job is not for slouches. I saw how the other MLES agents were by best friend was one and now works for the Prophet if that's any kind of benchmark as to what it was like. True we don't fight the big bad dark wizards that I've had to fight as an Auror. No, we have a tougher job. Keeping and maintaining law and order. As such...we're going to have drills weakly. Consider it...a way to test your abilities every Friday at 4. Something I'm sure all of you will enjoy because they will consist of mock duels and various things." Looking around he propped his foot on the arm of Ben's chair. "This is a duel office. Duel meaning two divisions. As such we will be spending half the time working cases for the Wizengamot for trial and half the time working out own. Sucks I know but it's all I can do. Any questions?"
