Granddaddy Ravenclaw | | Jermione Granger With acknowledgment that I find actual haiku really wonderful and that this is a poor attempt at mimicking that structure. Drabble #15, Theme #25, Sorting Hat
So... where'd the Sorting Hat spend break this year...
Perched on the stool, most ceremoniously, the Sorting Hat began its yearly ritual. But not song... haiku?
On the shelf, a hat
of lineage most noble
watches years fly by.
Brought out for one day,
a day both cherished and feared.
On this stool, judgment.
My brim has rested
Upon those most righteous, yes.
Also those most foul.
Lo, from the time of
Gryffindor, thus goes the tale.
I decided fate.
.
No more, I beg you.
Separation makes for strife.
To sort is to hurt.
This year, I will not
your future is up to you.
Freedom, not decree.
