But when he looked up at him, Brian's forehead creases at the uncomfortable silence of Nathan. Oh..something is wrong?! Why he had been taking lotta time to reply for such a simple question!? And above all there was no life in his tone when he said they were fine and his smile was fake, obviously. Brian's heart skipped a beat. He wanted to ask more but didnt want to make him feel more uncomfortable since they were surrounded by quite amount of people. "Okay, we miss them.." he said quietly.

It didn't take a detective to see by the look on Brian's face that his lie had not gone unnoticed. Sigh. He never had been able to lie convincingly ,but it was easier than the truth right now. He averted his eyes from Brian's to the ground and suddenly felt very awkward. He scratched the back of his head uncomfortably resisting the temptation to wince when Brian said he missed Egypt and the kids.
'Yeah.. me too.' He thought darkly.
He looked up again when no questions came and the focus was on Becky rather than himself. Thank Merlin for that.
“Ah.. Congratulations, you two.” He said, reaching out to shake Brian's hand. He smiled at Becky. “
So how long have you got to go?” he asked with interest, determined to keep the focus off himself.

Warren gave a shrug at Brian's comment. "Well now you've met again." Seeing Nathan come up he grinned and then promptly winced as Brian mispoke without intending to. He didn't know. Smiling he watched as Nathan started to introduce himself to Madison and he shook his head, "Oh sorry bout that. Nathan this is Madison Masterson. Madison this is Nathan. Blame Madison for me actually having to work this gig instead of having fun." He joked and gave Madison a grin.
"And now that you're both here...I have news." Taking a pause for pure drama he looked at them both and then at Brian and Becca who knew already and his smile grew. "Alexa and I are engaged." Yes! They are...and he could literally run circles around this clearing now he was so happy. His grin widened as he looked at his two friends.
As Brian's question sunk in with Nathan his smile faltered slightly and he looked at his best friend. Yes he needed to get out and about and so help him he was going to help him. But if he had learned anything the only one that could help Nathan was himself.... Turning toward Madison he looked thoughtful for a moment, "Hey Madison...where's Jadyn?"

Nate smiled warmly and shook Madison's hand when Warren gave her name. He raised his eyebrows and looked at Warren.
“Oh you're working this thing?” He had actually been surprised when Warren gave him a ticket to the QWC that he wouldn't be on duty. When Nathan had been MLES, they had to work all the important events – he assumed that they were just better staffed now than they were then. But, it seemed things hadn't changed. He just hoped Tristan would show up to keep him company during the match.. but his friend wasn't much of a quidditch fan.
“Well at least he'll have something to keep him out of trouble.” He teased Madison with a wink.
He felt his jaw slacken and his mouth actually fell open when Warren said he was engaged!
Wha? no.. Wait a second.. What!? The last time he had spoken to either Warren OR Alexa, they were both dreadfully miserable unhappy. He closed his mouth with a snap and his lips curled up into a smile.
“Mate, that's just..” No words.
“that's the best news I've heard in a long time. Congratulations." He reached out his hand to shake Warren's and pulled him into a brotherly embrace.
“How? When?” He asked still shocked at the news as he looked at his old friend.
“Is Alexa coming today?” Would she be on duty too? Working for the Law department certainly had it's drawbacks.
