Marcus, pushed off the door frame and sauntered over to her. With his free hand he took out an owl pellet and held it out to the owl that she was trying to coax down from its perch. You tend to get the same treatment in return." And he wasn't just talking about the owl either.

"So how have you been Anastasia? Been a while since I last saw you." Actually Marcus, couldn't even recall the last time that he had seen her.

"Writing home eh? Really Marcus, I wouldn't have pegged you for the homesick type." Anastasia shook her head and watched him just strolllllling around the owlery, coaxing her owl over with a smelly little treat. He always was too good at everything.

Annie couldn't help her nose wrinkling at both the insinuation about being nice and at the smell of the owl up close. "Are you using that one?" she gestured toward the bird. "Or," Annie cleared her throat, "may I borrow an owl pellet to go be nice to a different one?"

Ha.

"I've been fine. Not the best term around here but...... you know.... it got better." A little time away from school helped too. "What about you, Marcus?"

He seemed a little... different. Less annoying for some reason.
