Chris too heard someone singing. He turned around to see who it was and saw....Rafe. He turned back to LouAnn and grinned brightly on the verge of giggling. Rafe could be so funny. He could tell LouAnn had heard it and felt the same as him about the singing boy.
Chris smiled, "Well I'm glad you have been there. I don't see how anyone can live without ice cream from there. And I got my wand at Diagon Alley too!" He laughed. True she left here probably around the same time and explained why she didnt come straight to Hogwarts. He was about to ask her were she did go before this but he didn't want to pry. If she wanted to tell him she would do it herself. He thought of something else to talk about. "So what's you family like?" he smiled.
"You're so welcome LouAnn I would never turn my back on you." He smiled at her beautiful face. She seemed so scared. He wouldn't let something bad happen to her on his watch. Besides what could she do so bad that he wouldn't stand behind her.
With one additional look at Rafe, LouAnn blocked out the sound of the boy's singing and focused on her own conversation...and ice cream. It wasn't that she didn't enjoy Rafe's singing, but that was part of what was meant to be a private conversation between him and some other girl. LouAnn didn't want to be rude to Chris either.
She nodded when he mentioned how great the ice cream at Florean Fortescue's was. "It really is! I think it's cool how they have
real candy inside, like chocolate frogs and jelly slugs. The Bertie Bott's is really awesome, too! It's cool how the ice cream tastes different every time you get a scoop," she remarked. LouAnn finished off her ice cream and tossed the spoon back into the cup. "That was really good. Thanks again. I'd forgotten how nice it was to just get away and come and enjoy ice cream."
LouAnn smiled just a little but then glanced away, hiding the sad look that crept up on her face. Chris was
claiming he'd stand by her no matter what, but if LouAnn had really done what she was afraid she'd done, Chris would probably turn on her in a heartbeat. She thought it'd be safe to say there'd be no more ice cream sundae dates.
