"That doesn't sound like suitable behaviour for a knight in shining armour," she whispered at him urgently. "Who did you kill.............. in this 'dream'? Where did it happen? Do you think he is still there? Can we go see? Maybe there's a bodddddy. Maybe there's another student ghostieeeee out there just seeeeeking my friendship!"
Myrtle's eyes were alight with the prospect of a fellow ghost in her age group, as opposed to the dry and dull older ghosts like Nick and Helena.
"Jakey! We should go exploring!" Myrtle bobbed in place and "wrapped" her other arm around Jake's again, sending another chill through the boy. "Show meeee the dead studenty!!!"
"Puh-please d-d-don't, Myrtle," Jake begged, sounding as though he was on the verge of tears. He didn't want Myrtle to think he was any lesser than what he was.
Which was already not all that.
His own eyes widening, Jake blinked at Myrtle. "Of cuh-cuh-course he's nnnnnnot th-there, it was a d-d-d-dream... ruh-right?"
Right?
RIGHT?!
"It wuh-wuh-were at the ssssecret passssage," Jake mumbled, running his free hand through his hair, noting that his grammar tended to fail when he got into a bit of a state. "Luh-luh-let's g-go there, nnnnnow," he added, nodding frantically, desperate to prove he didn't do anything wrong.
And plus... Jake hadn't heard of any deaths this t-WOWWWWWW that was collddddd.
"Mmmmmyrtle," the boy started, shivering as the ghost like, enveloped his arm. He was about to tell her not to do that, because his blood would probably freeze in his veins and make him... well... it would be bloody painful.
Buddum-psh.
In the end, Jake decided not to say anything and just nodded at the ghostly girl, waiting to see if she was serious about leaving. "But... I buh-buhhh-bet there's nnnnnothing there..."
