Wondering for a moment if Melanie was stooping to that sarcasm thing people sometimes did, Jake stood quietly for a moment. Then, he kind of figured that he didn't believe Melanie would do that, and shook his head to the negative.

"You're nuh-nuh-not," he said quietly.

Really, didn't she watch peoples' lips when they spoke?

"But I duh-duh-don't tttttalk funny," Jake added hurriedly. "It... it's not muh-muh-my ffffffault."
