Not being able to sit and watch anymore, Destiny stood and and ran to her side (standing far enough away so the snare couldn't reach her, of course.) Destiny had no idea how to calm Evelyn down, so she yelled the first thing that came to her head. 'Evelyn, you are going to calm down right now.. and.. and.. and you will like it!'

Distracted as it was by the prey of the Slytherin, the Devil's Snare started to send out a tendril to muffle the cries of the Hufflepuff. But then he too "played dead" and it grew tired of the boy's game. The plant released him and instead focused most of its creepers back on Evelyn.
Bunz spared a glance from her bubble-making and popping when Tavelon let out a little exclamation, as did another Slytherin. She noticed the Hufflepuff and LouAnn and Chris... but wasn't there another student testing herself? That Slytherin scared girl?
The professor clutched this latest wand tighter and took a step toward the Devil's Snare where its bundled-up Evelyn was still squirming like a weird worm. "Now now, Snarey," she tsked, reaching a hand out and spanking the plant like it was a naughty child. "You let her go. Let her go. Dear, girl," shame Bunz didn't know her name yet, "stop struggling -- like your friend says --- and the plant will untangle you. You have to trust me and the Devil's Snare if you want to escape."
Evelyn paused for a moment when she heard Destiny sound like...her mother? What?! Looking toward Destiny with fearful and tear filled eyes, she was confused for just a moment before suddenly feeling her feet being lifted off the floor. "NO!" Kicking and struggling, she could feel even more of the plants tendrils swarm around her, making her panic even more. She just wanted her wand back! Not THIS!!
By now Evelyn couldn't move her arms, having them squished to her side, so she used her feet and legs instead to try and pry herself out. Why were they saying to calm down? Could they not see what was happening!!?? The plant was attacking her! Practically standing up on the plant, she tried to push herself out with her legs. "I...DON'T...WANNA...BE EATEN!" she yelled to no one in particular, ignoring the professor's words to listen to Destiny and calm down. But she was tiring now, the trying to kick and pry herself away was putting a toll on her.
Finally she just decided to do what the others said. Calm down. 'Calm down. Calm down. Calm down. Calmdowncalmdowncalmdown.' she thought repeatedly in her mind, sitting/standing as still as she could, squeezing her eyes shut, trying to keep the tears at bay. She could still feel the slimy plant squeezing her tighter, adding even more of its tendrils to her 'growing collection.' The slimy plant was making her uncomfortable and made her skin feel like it was crawling, but she tried to ignore it. 'Calm down...' |
