Truebridge followed Jake's glance down the corridor and then looked back at the boy when he spoke of his dream. A real dream? "Did you, in this dream, enjoy it?"
"I guess that's right," Jake responded, staring down at his feet as he scuffed the toes of his shoe across the floor. At the next question, Jake didn't even need to think. He remembered the outbursts of the staff, especially when it was from someone it rarely happened with. Looking back up at Truebridge, Jake shook his head. "No sir... I've never seen you like that..."
Perhaps that was why Jake was rather surprised at the story he'd been told.
At the question about the dream, however, Jake bowed his head again, feeling shameful. He spoke in an expressionless voice. "I... I loved it, you know? I was laughing and smiling, and it felt so good... But I didn't like it when I woke up," Jake added hurriedly.
