Mentally crossing his fingers, Torin slowly made his way up the stairs with the letter that Tammy had written to his mother. He just knew that it would work on her, but there was still that nagging thought at the back of his head that said that he would be going home. This was why he hadn't sounded too confident to his friends; he would rather pleasantly surprise them than greatly disappoint them.

So this was why he was solemn when he took the letter out of his pocket and looked over what it said for the millionth time.

Quote:
Mrs Kane,

Um. . . Yeah , you don't know me. My name's Tammy Wood and at this moment in time, I am your son and daughter's prefect, one of them anyway. I guess you aren't used to getting letters from friends of them, but in everyones best interest this letter should find you.

You see, Torin is my best friend, and I couldn't have gotten halfway through this school year without him, and he has that effect on many of our students. Personally he has inspired me to face reality, attempt maturity and well . . think big of myself. I haven't had any of my most favouritist moments with anyone but him. That goes for alot of people around here.

Personally, I haven't became too close with your daughter, but hearing how highly Torin speaks of her, and how she came across in the rare conversation we have had, I find her someone that would be missed if pulled form school.

Mrs Kane, it isn't like when students are enrolled in a magic school, you expect every day to go with ease and nothing bad, or torturing to ever happen. We have werewolves as teachers, my opinion on those is not discussable, and that dead boy . . . Not only did Torin find him, but he was also a member of the same house. Sure it will be hard to deal with, but Torin is getting there and he has the friends and family, and peers to do that, he just needs somewhere stable to keep his head preoccupied. If taking them out of school was the best option, I assure you I would gladly let them come out and pressure for it to happen. They seem at ease here, dealing with it together.

Just think, anyone could have found that body, this situation could've been happening to someone else. Someone else's family could be contemplating the best option for their childrens safety. The boy's family, Kyle's family, they obviously are in mourning, but I'm sure they wouldn't want someone elses education spared at the unfortunate happening that ended their loved ones life. What if that boy had never been found? Then his family would have nothing, so it's lucky he was found, but unfortunately it was Torin.

Re-reading this, I sound real big, pompus, smart and like someone who has had a decent upbringing. Let me tell you, I haven't. I'm an orphan, lacking family, lacking reassurance, lacking self belief. But I've gotten through my final year with the help, guidance and lifeline of your son. He needs his education. And people need him. To brighten up a rainy day, or even just for a joke around, he holds decent serious talks too. Anything, and thats just him.

He is the brother I never had, and I love him with all my heart. If anything I'll love him more and more each day, totalling to an amount that no-one has ever witnesses before, and probably more than I will ever love any future family.

Yours,
Tammy Wood

It seemed perfect... though the mention of werewolves filled him with a strange anger every time that he reached that part.

He summoned his owl, tied the letter to her leg and sent her off on her way.
