It would be trite and a little ridiculous to add that Jake reminded him a little of himself, so Ethan did not, but his story made a few pretty stand out comparisons. It felt a little odd, telling a student all this but Jake needed to hear it, and Ethan did not expect the boy to go blabbing it everywhere.
Chewing worriedly on the nail of his little finger, Jake stayed quiet throughout the whole story. It did seem to put things in a great deal of perspective, and Jake didn't have a clue what to say.

At last he looked up and took his hand away from his mouth. "I see," he said quietly, using the phrase he despised more than any other. Almost. "Welllll..." Jake paused, blinking. "I still don't really know why you'd want me ter..."
Jake looked towards the kitchen level corridor for a moment, and decided if Truebridge could tell him all that... Jake could reveal that nightmare. "I had this dream... Dead vivid, it were..." he started, looking down again. "Dreamt I killed someone... It felt... real..."
Jake was actually convinced it was real.
