"'Unno," Arrick shrugged. "Maybe the proper nurse had enough of all this balminess and ran away."
Kylie was starting to feel a little uncomfortable. She really liked Hogwarts. It was the only place she felt like she'd... fit in. For years she'd had to hide herself away, end friendships, all because she caught her grandmother's gene. She liked being in a place where crazy things happened, exciting things happened. Where she could be herself and not have to hide anything.. well, she'd have to hide secrets and things--she was sure. But not that she was a witch. "Excuse me," she said, hoping to detach herself from the conversation a bit. Out of the corner of her eye she saw Lorcan and Kay talking.. it looked intense.. she knew it probably wasn't a great idea to go over there--but she needed an excuse to get out of here. "My friends look.. well like they might need some help." She concluded. "It was really nice meeting you though! I'm sure I'll be seeing you around." She said before scooting towards Lorcan and Kay.

"Oh come on Kay, you've got to eat. You'll end up with a cold if you don't look after yourself." The truth was that close up, she already looked drawn and ill. "At least have a bit of the chicken pie, it's lovely." He smiled at her encouragingly. "What do you want to drink? Orange juice? Pumpkin juice? Water?" He made to reach for the empty goblet so that he could pour a drink out for her.

"Everything's ok, except that lesson, Runes and Arthimancy. You were really good, but I was shocking! It was all a mystery to me." He gulped, realising that he would have to get on with what he needed to say soon, he couldn't bear to see her so upset.

"I spoke to Lex-, I mean I spoke to Alexandra after Ancient Runes. I told her that what she said to you was out of order. She got so angry because you assumed that she was upto no good when you don't know her. Apparently other people have thought the same thing. I wouldn't expect an appology, she was more hurt than I think she wants to admit. She told me that she followed you to the corridor where the kitchen is. She shouldn't have done that." The usual blush had started to creep up his face. He had dealt with more feelings since coming to Hogwarts than he ever thought could exist. It's because I'm surrounded by girls. He thought. He took a few mouthfuls of food, unsure about the thing that he had to say next. Eventually, having taken a drink of water, he looked up at Kay.
"Listen, Kay, you're both my friends and I don't want to loose either of you. I can understand if you don't want to be friends with her, I really can, but please don't force me to choose. I think that you and I need each other; I don't know anyone else who's lost a p-" He stopped short, realising that he was about to expose both of their secrets. "Well, you know. I didn't tell her that either. If you want people to know then you'll tell them I'm sure. I prefer to pretend it's not true unless I'm absolutely forced to tell the truth." he studied her face carefully to see how she might respond.

To Kay too
"Hi guys. Sorry, I know I'm interrupting... but well I was dying over there. Is everything all right? If you need me to, I'll leave... I was just having a very.. bad conversation." She hoped they'd let her stay. She didn't really want to do her homework, nor did she want to sit around doing nothing.
