If he hadn't moved on, it made her feel worse and she was only putting him down to make herself feel better. Selfish, but true. She resolved if he found out exactly who it was he would never forgive her and Azkaban felt like a great end. A way to free herself of the guilt. There was silence as she just looked around the room.
"I was an Auror" She said with a sigh. Was She'd ended up going freelance just to get revenge. She didn't think Ministries had changed International Law that much that they'd let murderers back into the force, despite finishing sentences. She scoffed at his reminiscent gesture, "I see. So you've killed someone? Fascinating. What are you still doing here? I would've thought your conscience would've eaten you alive" She hadn't even actually killed anyone and here she was trying to find a release.
The twirling quill was getting bloody annoying, "Familiar is it? Well he affected a lot of people with his mass murder didn't he?" She muttered distractedly. She had all but forgotten the young man beside her and glanced at him with a frown. Next thing they'd be recruiting children straight out of Hogwarts. It was naive and ridiculous.
His comment about her slip-ups made her uneasy and yet she wasn't sure if she didn't want him to know. Some masochistic part of her wanted him to find out. A part of her wasn't prepared for the horrors that awaited her.
"Why, don't you think a woman can kill? I can assure you, we can" Especially when it deals with matters of the heart How was she going to get herself out of this hole?
"I don't know him. We weren't friends if that's what you mean but I know him. That-My wand got pretty acquianted with him, before he died that is" She felt oddly satisfied that he'd died so ruthlessly. At least her father got some revenge.
"I'm going for the...let's get as much information before Forrester and his 'I know everything' self comes in and just confuses everyone. And I don't like silence." Not anymore. Silence left him time to think. Time to think was...bad. His jaw clenched as she spoke and he, "That's none of your bloody business." Why was it that he found himself regressing back to the way he was more and more when he'd finally found a little peace in himself.
Her scoff brought him out of his daze and he looked at her. Was she trying to make him angry, "I have killed people...plural. And no...my conscience doesn't bother me one bit. They deserved it.....all of them..." he trailed off and glanced at his employee certain things in his life that only one person knew all of and she wasn't there. "That's not why it is familiar...or not the only reason. My...I knew someone who was also looking for him." Knew. The past tense didn't sit well with him at all. Picking up his glass he took a large swallow and set it down. He wished she sent him a letter! How hard was that.... He had to stop himself from going on some tangent in his head that would leave him going to Forrester's office and grabbing a bottle of Firewhiskey off his bar.
"I know women can kill...very well..." Oh yes he did. The one who tried to kill him so long ago...the one that Alexa had managed to save him for a change. His thoughts came back around and he looked at her, "That's not what I was asking. Why did you kill him?"
