Can you just help me with erumpent horns because I am really terrible in measuring but I can crush the moonstones for know," he said beginning to crush a few moonstones, "Oh and how many moonstones should I crush?" he asked her hoping he didn't sound stupid. Rachel asked him if he wanted to cut the herb? he thought for a moment about the question and answered her, "Erm.. Okay but just as long this herb wouldn't give me a rash or something," he hoped that he wouldn't need to were those horrible gloves to cut the herb.
He... was PATTING her. Ok, this kid was slightly odd and this time she seriously meant it. What was it with these younger Ravenclaws?! They'll give the house a bad name!

Er, right. Back to potions.

Shaking herself slightly, Rachel averted her gaze from where his hands had touched her shoulder and focused on what the kid was saying. "Sure - although if you want to do well in Potions, measuring is the basics of all. Can't do that - can't do potions, I'm afraid," she said pleasantly as she took the horns away from him and began weighing the bits. If she messed up, it would be her health at stake as opposed to her grade, when in class.

Rachel chuckled as she realised that she could not easily and with a whole heart choose which one was more important. "Crush the amount I put out," the sixth year pointed towards the small pile next to him as she fiddled with the horns, trying to get the exact amount.

"It won't - but if you tend to get rashes, wear your gloves; you're supposed to be wearing them anyway," she said, holding up her own hands to show him that she was indeed wearing gloves.

Finishing up with the erumpent horns, she plopped them in the marked bowl and turned back to Turner. "Right, so when you finish with that start the fire underneath the cauldron and let me know when it's reached boiling," she told him as she took off her gloves, picked up a quill and wrote down exactly what they were doing.

It wasn't necessary since the book they were using would always be available, yet Rachel always preferred following her own handwriting.
