Arrick wasn't sure what the bird was, but given the fact that a stampede of students immediately went over to collect the feathers that fell off of it, it was on the list. Uninterested in joining the crowd, he poked about elsewhere instead and retrieved a long hair from the horse brush.
He noticed Abigail had gone and collected both, but there was no guarantee that she had grouped up with them, so he kept his horsehair.
By the time he was done the rush of students were coming over to investigate his brush, so he moved over to retrieve the feather from the strange bird.
That done, he poked about some more, frowning critically.
