Okay, okay. So this whole audition didn't seem so terrible after all. It was true that LouAnn was no choir girl, but she could at least hold a tune in a bucket long enough to do a short piece. It'd be better than trying to plan ways to sneak out the back door when no one was looking. Something told her this Melita lady would catch her if she tried to make a quick escape, anyway.

So it was with that thought in mind that LouAnn made her way (slowly, mind you) up to the front of the room. She edged her way past a few people, muttering a bunch of 'Excuse me's' and 'Coming through's' as she did so. When she finally got to where she needed to be, she turned to face her peers, her throat suddenly feeling as if an entire apple had gotten stuck in it. She took a deep breath and smiled, greeting the healer shortly afterwards. "Hello, Healer Melita. I'm LouAnn Purple, a fifth year. I'm going to be singing a song called "Gotta Go My Own Way," she said. After another deep breath, she began to sing, that "apple" in her throat slowly disappearing as she did so. When she was done, she smiled at the healer again then resumed her place in the back of the room.
