"So, today's lesson is going to be on muggle self defense. Of course the muggles don't have magic and they need to have a way to protect themselves and, of course, they do. This is what we are going to be learning about in this class today. Some of you may remember that we did a class on martial arts a few terms back. But, are martial arts really self defense? What do all of you think about this? Is this a good way to defend oneself, or are there better ways?"
Rachel had slipped in unnoticed just before the lesson had started and was therefore prepared for Professor Dumont's first question.
"Professor," she began, raising her hand,
"I think that knowing martial arts, in its simplest form, is sufficient for self defense when you're up against someone who doesn't have weapons and who is not too skilled in combat himself. Once you are facing someone with knowledge, power and weapons - the techniques become entirely different, in my opinion," she said, nodding.
"Weapons, high skills in martial arts and good legs for running away are amongst the few that are necessary," Rachel added with a small smile, knowing fully well that if she were faced with danger and no wand she'd run as fast as she could in the other direction.
