It's at its brightest because it's high noon. Over to the west, I can see the moon over the lake. That's about it. It's too early for their to be any stars out, sir." Abby pretends to be looking for stars. When in doubt, do what the insane individual says to do at until the men in white coats carrying a straight jacket come and gets the idiot.
