Switching topics quickly, he put the photo down. "Heh, well, the shoes are for accidents." He chuckled. "Remember when we were practicing Expelliarmus in class? Jake Upstead melted my shoes to the floor instead." Tibi laughed, adding, "it was totally an accident, of course."
"But yeah, Mum has been really great. I guess cause even though she's not a witch, she always knew about me so it wasn't a surprise... she bought me Pidgin so we could keep in touch." Tibi felt like he'd been talking a lot about himself, so he changed the subject. "What about you? What do your folks think about all this?"
It was said faintly, but Rayedem had heard enough. So, the boy's father died. He frowned, biting his lower lip as he was reminded of his own father. His father had been more like his boss--strict, controlling. Demanding. He took another look at Tibi's father, and let the words accidentally slip right out of his mouth,
"He," he gagged, but quickly managed to continue,
"seemed nice. I'm sorry, Tiberius." How did he die? He didn't even have the slightest intention to ask.
He was glad that the topic switched.
Jake Upstead? He chuckled.
Oh, the third year with the pink hair, right? Rayedem didn't know him personally, he only heard about him from people. He now told himself that he'd keep his distance,
"Oh. I suppose wizarding mistakes could get nasty." "Well," he began answering Tibi's question,
"my parents, they're both muggles. I don't know any relative of mine that's a wizard or witch, I guess my family and I just have to scan through the family tree to find out--or maybe my sister was the first witch, but that's ridiculous, right?" he added, hoping that it was ridiculous. He'd very much like to know if someone in his family was like him.
"Dad's friend is a wizard, and his daughter is in first year too. Lucille Beambrook, she's my best friend." he ended, smiling, wondering if Tibi had met her yet.
