Draco nodded. "Always Potter," he drawled. "Well then, that means I should be able to head for home once my head stops feeling like a hippogryff sat on it. Seeing as how I shouldn't be in any more danger and all." He couldn't help letting the bitter tone creep into his voice.
Even if they were after Potter, he still felt like he was in danger because he was a traitor to the DEs and to Voldemort. So even if they were after Potter, he Draco Malfoy, still had to hide like a coward and live in constant fear and vigilence.
He wondered if Professor Snape ever felt that way. He figured since the Potions Master was sitting right across from him, he might as well ask.
"Professor Snape... when you... deferred... what was it like? Your life afterwards, I mean." The words came out more like a monologue to himself, but he looked his former HoH in the eyes, trying to keep his own inner torment hidden out of sight. Realizing that such a personal question might offend the older man, he cleared his throat. "I apologize if I'm prying."
