Chelle was extremely keen to make friends here. How could she survive wthout friends in a place full of strangers who were not even normal? She gave Rayedem a warmhearted smile. He seemed nice but lost here, just like herself. `Are you... what they call... pureblood?' she asked, trying to remember whether what she said was right.
Still holding his throat, Rayedem swallowed just so that he could speak without feeling pain, then he said,
"Cranberry? Well, I like cranberry juice. In fact, I'd like some now," as his sore voice broke he made a waving gesture with his right hand, and pointed his throat with the other, indicating how thirsty he was. He cleared his throat, feeling pain as if it's being cut by a knife or something, and said again,
"Pureblood?" he chuckled, resisting the pain,
"No, no, on the contrary, I am a muggleborn. Maybe that's why I don't recognize the stuff I just drank. What about you?" That's it, he thought, this only happened in his life twice--getting so thirsty that he felt the burning in his throat until he lost his voice--once when he was punished by his father, being locked up in his own room because of the pranks he used to pull against the neighbors, and then now. It was never a pleasant experience. Rayedem recalled how he had bit his tongue in his desperation for water.. And got blood instead, but at least it did soothe the pain.
It won't happen this time, not when I have so many kinds of drink I could choose from--maybe.
