But this, of course, was not a succesfull attemp to avoid the question. At least he felt a little bit like she wanted to avoid the question. Was there something that bothered her? He wanted to know but at the same time he knew he had no right to stick his nore into people's family business as well as he would not know how Rose would react it. In spite of these, he decided to take the risk to ask. Well...he was the man for risky things and he wanted to help. ''How were your days at home?'' he asked again once they were comfortably seated. Evelyn half smiled and laughed. "If you like mess, you should see my room. Drives my parents crazy." She joked around. She looked up and saw his expression when he sat down. She wasn't fooling him. She knew he knew that she was stalling. She sat down opposite him when she finally got her bag and suitcase up on the rack, and counted down in her head when he would ask again. And then he did. "Mmm, my days at home." she repeated, raising her eyebrow and looking at the ceiling of the compartment. If she wanted to be friends with him, she would have to tell him the truth, because that's what friends do. However, if she stayed friends with him, her parents were sure to find out like they did last time, and that would not end well at all. BUT...she did like him. He was a great guy, even at their young age, she could tell that he was someone who would never let anyone down, and she always looked for that in a friend. Letting her eyes slowly fall from the ceiling, to the bag rack, to the opposite wall, and then finally to his eyes, she let out a sigh. "Well, my days at home weren't very...fun." she said slowly, taking in his every expression and movements. "My parents found out, somehow..." she rolled her eyes. "...that we were hanging out." she paused for a second, thinking of what to say. She was nervous. What if he didn't want to hang with her anymore? And then in a more confident tone, she spoke again. "My parents are very old fashioned when it comes to who we... our family... socializes with." she swallowed roughly and looked out the window. "They weren't very happy to say the least. Especially my father." |
