She smiled, placing the book on the chair, and pulling her knees up to her chest.
"I've heard that title before," ventured Kiri, "but I didn't know it was a Muggle novel. I think we have it at home. I'm... not sure I'd want to read it, though," she added, smiling. "I'm not big on romance. Neither in books nor in reality."
And that, her inner editor added,
was technically a white lie.
She glanced outside the window. After travelling on the Hogwarts Express for three years, Kiri thought she was beginning to recognise certain parts of the landscape. The shape of the hills, woods and forests... The feeling made her slightly melancholic. This was the first year that people she knew were graduating.
"Oh, I'm okay," she said lightly, nodding to herself. "I'm not sure what I'll be doing over the summer holidays, though. The end of term came a bit suddenly... for, er, for some reason," she amended hastily. No one was going to find out about what had happened at the camp-out and how much it had occupied her thoughts.
"What about you? Are you going to visit your, um, aunt?" Kiri would never get used to referring to a professor as someone's aunt.
