Besides, the woman was on her way now so there was no backing out now. She couldn't just say 'I'm sorry, I was going to promote you but given your unhappy attitude towards me and the competition you present me with, I've changed my mind'. Nope; Sophia, no matter how much she wanted to do that, she couldn't.
And there it was... the knock she had been expecting.
Pretend she's not there? Tempting. Adjusting some papers spewed across her desk, she instead drew a deep breath.
"Come in please," she called through the wood.
As the words came through the door, slightly muffled by the wood, Alyss braced herself, drawing herself up to her full height (which, for anyone who cared, was 5'3, but that's mainly 'cause she had heels on), and opened up the door. The office was... Pretty. Which was totally contrary to her suspicions. Looking around at the features for a bit until her eyes rested on the woman who was sat in front of her.
She fitted in perfectly into the office.
Smiling at her, she waved the memo aimlessly toward her,
"You..." Gah! The word summoned was popping into her head again,
"sent this." She finished feebly. Wow, what a way to show herself to her boss.
