Hearing her tell about the excitement almost made her wish that she had been there too. Returning Sarah's giggle, she nodded, "I'm fairly certain that anything we get up to over the summer will pale in comparison." Yes, owls would work, she thought to herself as talk continued of the summer. Nothing suspicious in that... not that she thought her family would take much notice as of late. "So, what do Muggles do for fun?" she asked with a slight air of casual curiosity. Doing something like that over the summer would certainly be a change of pace, and now that she was taking Muggle Studies those kinds of things were somewhat interesting. Or maybe she was just being a little rebellious to her own family's values.

Biting her lower lip, Mariel nodded slowly as Sarah admitted not having read the Aparecium as of late. That made it even more difficult as she'd now have to be the one to break it to her that her boyfriend was the source of gossip. "Um..." she started, not exactly sure how to begin. The Ravenclaw pulled the piece of parchment out of her pocket. "It's just that I read something in here that I think you should know..." Mariel unfolded it as she looked down at it for a few minutes, then showed it to Sarah. Watching her carefully with a somewhat pained expression, she added in a quiet voice, "It says that your boyfriend was kissing another girl." She really hated to tell her something like that, but she was her friend and of course she had to know. Better she found from her than overhear some gossip in the corridors. Hopefully Sarah wouldn't be too upset.
Placing her hands behind her head,Sarah continued looking up at the stars and stifled a yawn that tried to escape her mouth.Boy it was getting late, but everyone still seemed to be awake. She snorted with laughter at Mariel's comment. "I hope so! I've had enough near-death adventure for one year!" Turning her thoughts to the summer again she tried to think of things they could do,days out they could have.Things that Mariel might not have done before. And just then her friend asked her. "Well,I don't know really. How about ice skating, bowling, roller blading....oh oh!! And paint balling! That one is sooo much fun!" she said excitedly, rolling on to her stomach so she got a better look at Mariel as she explained it. "You see you dress up in protective clothing, take a gun loaded with paint and you have to try and 'kill'," she said, while making quotation marks in the air,to prove it wasn't for real, "your opponent. The person who gets hit the most is the loser. What do you think? They do it in the forest near where we live..." She was getting excited about it and they hadn't even sorted out details.

Sarah was still unsure as to what Mariel was getting at.Leaning in she watched as her friend took the piece of parchment out of her pocket and proceeded to explain. "Oh?," she enquired, taking the paper in her hands and glancing down.Something she should know? She had to squint to read it as the light was fading ever faster, but she needn't have worried,Mariel told her more or less what it said anyway. "Kissing another girl? Ohhhh you mean that older girl...Evolette something? Yes he told me she jumped him in Hogsmeade, waffling on about a contest or some such thing," she sighed, folding the parchment and handing it back. "He explained the next day when he gave me the chocolate he'd gone there to buy for me.She got to the Head Boy too,by all accounts.I was a little shocked at first, but I believed him when he said he had no idea she was going to do it." Looking across at Mariel,Sarah smiled. She loved the fact that Mariel was looking out for her, worried about her.True friendship that was. "Thank you...for telling me,even though I already knew," she winked. "It's nice being able to rely on your friends."
