He just couldn't believe that he would soon legally be an adult in the muggle world. From the tone of Rachel's voice he could guess that she was slightly panicked at just how soon his birthday was. "But it doesn't matter really. I'll be working and so wont really get to celebrate it this year, although my friends do want to take me out somewhere."

"April?" he asked, pulling away slightly and looking down at her. "That wasn't that long ago. So you turned sixteen then right?" he asked slightly confused. She was a fifth year after all so he had assumed she was fifteen at the start of the year but he thought he better confirm it right now. So you know he didn't right something stupid on the card he'd have to give her next year.

"It depends on your definition of cool. Their definition tends to be models. If we're going off that then no. But if we go by my definition then yeah there are 'cool people' here." he replied, letting her grab hold of the distraction, seeing how happy she was that he'd mentioned her to his friends. "They can be quite pretentious sometimes and tend to think that they're better than others. Probably because most of them are stuck up models." he mused. "But when you really get to know them and if they like you they'll pretty much protect you like your family."

She seemed extremely determined, it was cute really. Although he was sure he wouldn't think it was cute if the look was actually directed at him... He just knew that there wouldn't be many if any fangirls invading his private space this summer. It warmed his heart to see that Rachel felt so strongly on that issue even though they'd only just got together. He hoped that she kept that determination as time wore on and they got closer to each other.

Humming an old, familiar tune Reid let himself relax more as he just enjoyed the feel of the night air, the fire crackling not far away and the feeling of Rachel in his arms. If every night could be like this he would be in heaven.
Wait - what? Eighteen? But he was a sixth year... "Are you a year older then?" she asked, slightly unnecessarily since it was rather obvious that he was. So that means that in less than a month Reid will be legal in the muggle world as well as in the wizarding world. ACK! "And there's no way you're escaping a celebration... One does not turn eighteen without commemorating the moment," she insisted, determined that he should have a celebratory party.

It's a shame that she'd only get to meet his friends a few days before - otherwise she might have planned something with them. "Yeah I'm sixteen and a bit," she nodded, feeling all off a sudden very young. She didn't like this weird feeling... She was used to feeling older than everyone else and more powerful so feeling young now not particularly pleasant.

Rachel laughed out loud as Reid began explaining that his friend's definition of cool would be models. "Boys will be boys," she chuckled and shook her head, wondering suddenly how his friends would see her. She knew that she wasn't ugly - although before meeting Reid, she had had second thoughts about that - but she wasn't a beauty queen either. Slightly taller than average, she was nothing compared to Reid so by definition that made her less model-esque. Weren't models supposed to be long, stick-like things with empty brains and dyed hair? At least the female version of them? That's what her mother had always said whenever they had happened across the topic.

"They sound like your average gang of goofs mixed together with rising stars," she said pleasantly, not meaning to offend at all. "They all sound lovely and I can't wait to meet them," the fifth year added with a nod, just in case he didn't follow her line of thought.

Although she was comfortable in his arms, she was starting to get a little self conscious and just a TEENY bit sweaty. Pulling away, she grinned up at him then sat back down, taking his hand and pulling him down with her. "Now where is that cat of yours?"
