Last time she'd given a present... Well, let's just say Jake was extraordinarily pleased with getting a cookbook this year.

Thing is, Rachel had been SURE he would like it. He had kept rambling on and on, talking about how he needed to learn this and needed to learn that and baking this, frying that. . . He sure had been hopeless at cooking, so WHY NOT get him a cookbook?!

Ugh. Right. Back to Reid.

"Oooh, can I meet these friends of yours? Are they all muggles, or do you have some undercover wizards on set?"
the sixteen year old asked curiously, trying to envision Reid going out with a bunch of Muggle boys, laughing and having a really good time- meh. In her vision, a group of fangirls had just spotted them and ran up to them and... Rachel was DEFINITELY accompanying him this summer.

Rachel's gaze softened as he explained and she melted into his hug, surprised at how good it made her feel. She snaked her arms around his neck and buried her face in his chest, feeling more comfortable and safe now than ever before. There's only so much comfort a girl can get from a cool uncle. "No, don't change. I like you just the way you are," she murmured into his shirt, her eyes closed.
"My birthday is June 30th. I know you didn't but you didn't know me on my last birthday and I didn't really expect a Christmas present anyway. When is your birthday? I want to do something for you on that day." He informed her, petting her hair slightly from where she'd basically melted into him.

"Well if you come to America with me you'll definitely meet them. They'd murder me if I didn't let them see the girl I'd told them about. I hope you don't mind that I told them a little about you but they asked how things were going and if there were any cool people here." Thinking about his next answer he decided that the best way to answer would be to try not to categorize all his friends.

"A lot of them are like us, they go to the same school as I did when I lived there. Then there are the ones who are squibs, they're probably the coolest. I do have muggle friends though, but all of them proved trustworthy enough to know about magic and they tend to help play off any magic that an outsider may be privy to. I hope that you'll like them though." Reid left out that most of his friends consisted of people who were famous in their own right, wanting that to be a little surprise. "They also help to keep the fangirls away," he said shuddering at the word fangirls. "Unfortunately they aren't always successful, so please stay close to me this summer. Occasionally we've had to call the police or security and I don't want you to be taken away with them."

"I'm glad," he whispered, holding her closer, still disbelieving that she was really there, that they were really standing like this in public where prying eyes could spot them. It felt so peaceful though, nothing like the summer would be. He just hoped she would deal with it well and not break up with him because of it.
