Here you are-my first long poem EVER! Hope you enjoy it! GOOD LUCK TO ME! Some time ago Hogwarts was new,
And I was not so dirty,
The noble founders of our school
Sat down to mull their duty.
Determined, they each said their thoughts,
About their choice of student.
The founders four each had their turn,
And said what they deemed prudent.
Said Godric Gryffindor,
“The brave, the daring I shall teach.
Those chivalrous and full of nerve
Will be the ones I preach.”
From Slytherin came this reply-
“ The purebloods I shall take.
Those worthy of our magic ways,
With them, there’s no mistake.”
Rowena’s answer came like this-
“The witty and the clever –
I’ll teach them everything I know,
They’ll treasure it forever.”
Helena Hufflepuff replied,
“I’ll take the just and loyal,
They ought to be hard workers, too
Even if they are royal.”
With these ideas in their heads,
About who they deserved,
Young magic children came to them,
The Founders them then served.
So after many, many years,
The Founders were quite rusty.
I was whipped off of Godric’s head,
Because I had proved trusty.
And now you try me on each year,
And I assign your house.
So perch me on your head at once,
And do not be aroused.
I’ll yell out loud where you shall go,
For everyone to hear.
Give me a round or two of claps-
The Sorting is now here. 21
