Annie folded her hands and rested them on her knee, weirdly at ease. Strawberries, now, why would a potion taste like strawberries? And who had made it? Kazimeriz, presumably, as he was the potions master.... however, Reynard had used to teach potions... could he have staged the entire "accident"? But why?

"Has this ever happened before, Less?" she continued in a calm tone, pointedly staring at a bit of peeling paint over the other woman's head so she wouldn't have to see her tears. Plants didn't cry. Plants just wilted and died. Plants were superior to weak, half-humans like Alessia Lupa, clearly.
