It wasn't cold and professional but warm, inviting, friendly and dare he say it but with the right person it could probably be romantic.
Sighing Reid looked around again, scanning the area directly in front of him for any sight of the girl who haunted his mind. She was stunning and after every encounter he was always left with a yearning to know more, see more and to be more. Neko batted at Reid's face, cutely demanding his attention once more, attention which Reid willingly gave, scratching the kitty under her chin and petting her head.
Tent? Check. Mattresses? Check. Toiletries? Can summon later... Rachel walked down towards the camp-out where she could already see tents and people talking and laughing - generally having a blast. Grinning at all the happy little students that were walking around, the fifth year strolled towards an empty patch of green and began working on her tent - kindly lent to her by Jake.
It took her all of five minutes to see that she wasn't going to be able to do this. Grunting and sweating slightly because of the heat and the effort she was putting into this, she dropped the whole structure on the floor and stalked off towards the fire, cleaning herself up and intending to relax for a moment before going back and trying a different tactic. There was of course, a spell she could use but unfortunately for her the OWLs didn't cover camping skills and so she was quite ignorant of it. Hmph.
Now fully refreshed from the several charms she had produced on herself, Rachel neared the roaring camp fire and couldn't help but smile. It was so serene - so peaceful and exciting and fun... Everything she currently wasn't. She was just about to take a seat when in her peripheral vision, the fifth year noticed someone sitting alone with a cat just a little farther away.
Someone who, for the past couple months, she had been practically aching to see. Taking a deep, shaky breath, Rachel walked over and sat down next to Reid, close enough so that they could talk comfortably but not enough so that they were even remotely close to touching. It was a little sad but necessary - she wasn't going to pounce on him.
"So I'm guessing that is the famous Neko?" she said gently to him, nodding towards the simply adorable kitten with whom he was playing with. Then her eyes found the face that the kitten was playing with and Rachel changed her mind - the face was more adorable than the cat by FAR.
