Elizabeth grinned at the expression on William's face as he answered Robert's question about the notice board in the common room, then leaned forward a little to whisper, "He was hoping you'd say you didn't read it, just to make himself feel better about not knowing about the campout." Then, she sat back again so she was leaning against her much-taller boyfriend, looking up at him with a mischievous smile before bringing her attention back to William. "Can't say I really have the urge to try to learn Mermish. I guess it's the flaw in my Ravenclawness, not wanting to learn the language just so I could say I knew it. I'll just have to live with not being able to converse with merpeople," she said, shrugging slightly. "There's never a problem with having an interest in learning things. If that's a weird Ravenclaw thing, I guess we're definitely in the right house, but I'm not so sure." Why did it have to be specific to Ravies? It seemed kind of cliche to her.

And then she sensed someone coming over to their little group again, and as they came closer, she almost unconsciously moved a little closer to Robert as she saw Cayden with Mari. She still wasn't entirely sure if she trusted him, even though she hadn't had any actual problems with him for ages now. To be honest, she'd barely seen him. But she looked up at Mari with a smile as her best friend greeted them. "Hey Mari," she said. "Decided to come out and join the fun?" Please no drama, please no drama, she thought anxiously. She thought there had been some sort of truce or something between Mari and Robert, but with Cayden there, she was getting a little uncomfortable.

And that was the point that William chose to get up, and she looked back at the younger boy for a second before returning his nod. She couldn't force him to stay there, just because he was a neutral party when it came to the current group. And it looked, as she semi-watched him walk off, like he was just heading for food. Besides, he'd left all his things there, including his kitten, who still looked like she was sleeping. So she forced herself to try to relax, managing it to an extent by the time he returned. She knew remaining Mari's best friend meant Cayden came along with the deal, just as she had a feeling Mari knew it was the same when it came to her and Robert. So she shouldn't spaz out every time the four of them were together. And when William plopped back down on his sleeping bag, with his snacks, she smiled a little. "Potions really does seem to be something you find interesting," seh observed as he went back to his reading.
