And so this year has come to start
With this old hat to sort you.
I'll read your mind and see your heart,
And pick the house you're born to.
Gryffindor will house brave acts,
Where they wear red and gold.
They'll save the day, and first react
To help all those less bold.
If you're prone to read and learn,
Then a Ravenclaw you'll be.
There you'll always have a turn,
To outwit hats like me.
Then Hufflepuff may be all right
For all those pure and kind.
That's the house where truth's in sight,
Where loyal friends you'll find.
Perhaps ambition and a mind
Prepared to fight for dreams
Will choose Slytherins as your kind -
But there, nothing is as it seems.
So which of our dear founders four
Would have liked you best of all?
Wear me once and I am sure
I'll find the house where you'll stand tall!
