He turned the corner into the first floor corridor, the smell of the water hitting him reminded Professor Kapoor of the recent floods. Locked away in a tower that was appearing more and more ivory by the rising integers of liquid, he'd become nearly oblivous to it. He sniffed. Wiping a tear from one of his eyes (onions always did that to him), he heard the small voice of one of the students...counting. Miss Malone had that habit about her, but until that moment, being face to face with her, he had mistaken it for a peculiar passtime.
"
Good morning, Miss Malone!" He boomed convivially in that way that sometimes people mistakingly do to folks who are sight impaired not hearing impaired. Not a moment after, he winced to himself, as silently as he could as a thought occured to him. Did he just throw off her counting? What if she got lost and all because he said
'hello'!? Kapoor took a long step sideways to make himself out of the way of Miss Malone, the sound of his own jaunty quick footsteps giving away his position.
